Dr. Claudio Alfieri
Principal Investigator
I studied Molecular Biology at the Universities of Palermo (BSc) and Milano (MSc). During my MSc work, performed in the laboratory of Dr Peter De Wulf, I studied the S. cerevisiae kinetochore protein Cnn1p (CENP-T in human) by using yeast genetics and biochemistry.
During my PhD at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL, Heidelberg) in the laboratory of Dr Christoph Müller, I studied the establishment of heritable chromatin domains, which during development, are transcriptionally silenced by Polycomb-group proteins by employing biochemical, biophysical and structural analysis (x-ray crystallography).
For my postdoctoral research, supported by a European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) Long-Term Fellowship and a EMBO Advanced Fellowship, in the laboratory of Dr David Barford at The Medical Research Council Laboratory of Molecular Biology (MRC-LMB), I determined the cryo-electron microscopy structure of the anaphase-promoting complex (APC/C) with the Mitotic checkpoint complex (MCC), and determined the structural basis for the MCC complex disassembly by the AAA+ ATPase TRIP13 and its adaptor p31comet. For this work, in 2018, I have been awarded the Brenner Postdoc Prize.
In October 2019 I joined the ICR as a Sir Henry Dale Fellow working on the structure and molecular function of the Muv-B complexes in regulating cell cycle-dependent transcription.
Very recently I was awarded with a Career Development Award that will support his research for the next 8 years.
In the free time I enjoy astrophotography and music.

Dr. Reyhan Muhammad
Higher Scientific Officer
I did my PhD in the Curtis A. Davey lab and postdoc with Stefan T. Arold, I am the Higher Scientific officer of the lab specialised in nucleosome and chromatin complex reconstitutions and biochemistry.
In the free time I like watching sports and TV series.

Dr. Fuzhou Ye
Postdoctoral Training Fellow
I did my PhD in Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, focussing on structural studies of virulence factors involved in gene transcription using X-ray crystallography method. Later I moved to Imperial College London and working on bacterial transcription initiation complex structures using CryoEM method. In Jan 2023, I joined Alfieri group, investigating protein complex structures and their roles in mediating cell cycle regulation.

Dr. Mandy Wan
Postdoctoral Training Fellow
I did my PhD in Claudio's lab on the structural determination of the human SIN3B complex, I am now doing a postdoc studying the cellular functions of SIN3B complexes in cell proliferation decisions.
In my free time I enjoy playing squash and baking cakes.

Rose
PhD Student
I am a PhD student working on the regulation of the Anaphase-promoting complex using biochemistry and cryo-EM.
In my free time I enjoy bouldering and playing with my cats.
